Pick a workload, pick a jurisdiction

Two questions decide the shape of your BitVPS deployment: what are you running, ve where does it need to live legally?

The workload determines the plan tier. Tor relays and VPN gateways do well on a $8.50/mo VPS Starter — they are bandwidth-heavy and CPU-light. Bitcoin and Monero full nodes need 6 vCPU and 16 GB RAM minimum (VPS Business or Pro), with 400 GB+ NVMe for the chain. Mail servers want low contention and a clean-IP allocation; Matrix homeservers want fast disk and predictable latency. Dedicated servers come into play for Lightning routing, large seedboxes, simulation/rendering and anything I/O-bound — typically $39.50 – $299.50/mo depending on CPU class.

The jurisdiction determines what is permitted and what is structurally hard to coerce. Iceland and Romania are our most permissive — Tor exits, adult content, controversial publishing all welcome. İsviçre excels for privacy-sensitive mainstream workloads (mail, Matrix, Bitcoin nodes). Hollanda offers the fastest peering and good safe-harbour case law. Which workload should I pick for anonymity?

For anonymity-critical workloads — Tor relays, VPN gateways, mixnet nodes, Monero remote nodes — pick a BitVPS VPS in Iceland (REYKJAVIK) or Romania (BUCHAREST). Both jurisdictions explicitly allow Tor traffic, neither participates in 14-Eyes data sharing, and both datacenters peer with anonymity-friendly transit. Combine with our /solutions/tor-relay/ or /solutions/vpn-server/ pages for plan sizing. Pay in Monero for end-to-end unlinkability between identity and infrastructure.

Can I run X without KYC? (X = adult content, Tor exit, mining proxy)

Yes — adult content, Tor relays including exits, and mining-pool proxies are all permitted on BitVPS without identity verification. Adult content needs no special arrangement; Tor exits should announce a reduced-exit policy and respond to the rare legitimate-abuse notice within 48 hours; mining proxies pose no special concern beyond ordinary bandwidth bills. CSAM, credible threats and active phishing campaigns get terminated regardless. Everything else stays up.

Do you allow Tor exit nodes?

Yes, explicitly — Tor exit nodes are a first-class supported workload on BitVPS, not a tolerated edge case. Read /solutions/tor-relay/ for the recommended exit policy template, the abuse-handling playbook and the IP allocation pattern that keeps your exit off most blocklists. Iceland and Romania are our preferred exit jurisdictions; Switzerland is fine for relays but middle-only by default. Reverse DNS is editable from the panel without a ticket.

Which jurisdictions allow which workloads?

Iceland and Romania are the most permissive — Tor exits, adult content, controversial publishing, sanctioned-but-legal content all welcome. Switzerland is excellent for privacy-sensitive but mainstream content (mail, Matrix, Bitcoin nodes); we ask Tor exits stay in Iceland or Romania for transit reasons. Do you allow seedboxes / torrents?

Yes. Seedboxes (private and public-tracker), BitTorrent nodes, IPFS pinning and DHT-style peer-to-peer workloads are all permitted on BitVPS. /solutions/seedbox/ is the dedicated landing with sizing — VPS Growth or Business is the typical pick for trackers, with Romania or Iceland for jurisdiction. DMCA notices are logged for transparency and ignored; legitimate-abuse notices (CSAM, malware distribution) get a 48-hour response window. No throttling, no bandwidth surprises.
